Description

The purpose of this research study is to 1) validate the use of surveys such as fatigue scales, Mitochondrial Disease scales, and quality of life scales, 2) validate clinical exams, such as muscle strength tests, and the 6 minute walk test, and 3) to define the natural history of the disease in the Mitochondrial Disease patient population.

What to expect

This study will involve both clinical exams, an in-person survey and online surveys. The exams include clinical exams of muscle strength, muscle strength test with myometry, the 6 minute walk test, among others. If you are a patient most of these will be completed as part of your routine care. During the 6 minute walk test, you will be asked to walk back and forth at a comfortably quick pace in order to go as far as you can in 6 minutes. Exams can either performed at the Mitochondrial Disease Clinic Center at CHOP or remotely via video visit.
