Revenue Cycle Operations Administrative Fellowship
The Revenue Cycle Operations Administrative Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is a two-year program. This fellowship program offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the complex relationship between revenue cycle management and clinical operations within a health system. The goal is to create a talent pipeline for critical revenue cycle positions.
The Revenue Cycle Administrative Fellowship Program is housed within RCO in the Division of Financial Services. RCO focuses on streamlining the revenue cycle through enhanced management insight and exposure of all aspects of revenue cycle management: Scheduling, Registration, Financial Clearance, Coding, Revenue Integrity, Reimbursement, Utilization Review, Billing, Collections, Managed Care Contracting, and Customer Service. Our program is designed to provide in-depth experience and knowledge of how revenue cycle financial management functions at all levels across the health system.
The fellow will be immersed in the revenue cycle through project-based work and shadowing rotations in the first year. Rotations in a more focused area in the revenue cycle will take place in the second year. Rotations in the following core areas will be included in the first year:
- Service Access, Financial Clearance, and Registration
- Mid-Revenue Cycle Management (Coding, HIM, UR, and Revenue Recognition)
- Billing/Collections
The fellow will have multiple opportunities to interact and participate with leadership and staff of all CHOP entities to enhance their education of how the CHOP contributes to clinical operations and our patients' healthcare experience.

How to Apply
The RCO Administrative Fellowship has moved its fellowship application for the 2026-2028 application cycle to the National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application System (NAFCAS).
Timeline
- Application opens on July 1, 2025.
- All application materials must be submitted no later than September 15, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis once all required materials are received.
- Selected applicants will be invited to a first-round interview and if the application is selected to move forward, the applicant will be invited on-site to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia October 1-2, 2025.
- A final decision will be communicated to final round applicants shortly following the final round interview.

Selection Criteria
The Administrative Fellowship meets all of ACHE's criteria to participate as a program. Our goal is to find a candidate who will be the best fit for the organization and will benefit most from the experience.
The fellowship begins in July of each year. Ideal candidates for the position will meet the qualifications below.
CHOP seeks candidates from strong masters-level-accredited programs. Qualified candidates for the Administrative Fellowship Program are Masters-prepared individuals who have completed the degree requirements within one year prior to application or upon completion of the fellowship in one or more of the following fields of study or related degree programs:
- Public health
- Business administration
- Health services administration
- Hospital or Health administration
Candidates with a master’s degree focused in healthcare administration from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) are required.
Candidates may have working experience through areas such as:
- Employment
- Externship
- Internship
- Fellowship
Additionally, candidates should have:
- A strong interest in revenue cycle operations.
- A foundational knowledge in the core competencies of healthcare administration
- Record of leadership and teamwork, and demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Other qualifications:
- Possesses broad knowledge of current and historical perspectives in areas such as: healthcare business management, administration, clinical practice management, finance, human resources and/or information systems.
- Candidates must be self-starters willing to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, system environment.

Primary Executive Leadership Preceptor: Fabian Stone

Fabian Stone is the Vice President of Revenue Cycle at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. With over 25 years in healthcare leadership, Fabian Stone has an innovative focus on clinical and revenue cycle management. He excels in leading high-performance teams to achieve impactful, mission-driven results and implementing advanced financial strategies, all while prioritizing the patient experience. Before joining CHOP, Fabian held various leadership positions at the Duke University Health System, where he honed his expertise in optimizing revenue cycles and implementing advanced financial strategies.
As the VP of Revenue Cycle at CHOP, he is currently leading the centralization of the hospital's revenue cycle structure, fostering a culture of transparency and inclusivity. Fabian is dedicated to advancing the use of technology and analytics to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes. In addition to his operational achievements, Fabian is dedicated to mentoring and developing future leaders in healthcare.
Meet the Fellows
1st Year Fellow
Ahmad Kassar

Ahmad earned his Master of Healthcare Administration from California Baptist University in August 2024, following undergraduate studies in Public Health Policy and Business Management at the University of California, Irvine. During his undergraduate years, he completed an administrative internship at a holistic health clinic, which ignited his interest in operational efficiency and patient-centered care. He later joined the Riverside County Public Health Laboratory, where he managed budgets, secured grant funding, oversaw contracts, conducted client billing, and led the implementation of a new EPIC-based LIMS/EMR system. Ahmad is inspired by CHOP’s esteemed reputation and its pioneering contributions to pediatric healthcare and systems innovation. He is eager to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s mission at the intersection of revenue cycle operations and patient outcomes. Through the fellowship, he aims to deepen his understanding of the distinct dynamics between public and private healthcare sectors and how each informs organizational strategy and the delivery of high-quality care.
2nd Year Fellows
Aditi Patel

Aditi Patel is a second-year Revenue Cycle Administrative Fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She earned her Master of Health Administration from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in May 2024, following a dual major in Exercise and Sport Science and Public Policy with a minor in Health and Society from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining CHOP, Aditi worked at a boutique consulting firm specializing in revenue cycle management. This experience sparked her interest in the intersection of finance and operations in healthcare. During her first year of fellowship, Aditi played a key role in launching collaborative meetings between clinical and revenue cycle teams, helping to bridge operational and financial priorities. She also contributed to enterprise-wide initiatives in artificial intelligence and automation. This growing interest has shaped her second-year focus on AI & automation initiatives, where she aims to explore innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce administrative burden. Aditi remains deeply committed to CHOP’s mission of delivering patient-centered pediatric care and is excited to continue learning from the unique challenges and opportunities within children’s healthcare.
Arjun Natarajan

Arjun Natarajan is entering his second year as an Administrative Fellow with Revenue Cycle Operations at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he has steadily deepened his expertise by leading projects that align behavioral health operations with sound revenue-cycle strategy. A California native, Arjun holds a Biotechnology degree from UC Davis and dual MHA/MPH degrees from IUPUI, and he draws on his earlier experience as a behavioral therapist and STEM educator to infuse empathy, dedication, and resilience into every initiative – as he continues to refine his leadership skills and executive presence. With CHOP and Penn Medicine’s newly announced $50 million Lurie Autism Institute poised to become a global hub for autism research and innovation, Arjun is eager to leverage his revenue-cycle acumen to support this transformational effort—advocating for providers and patients while helping ensure sustainable funding pathways for groundbreaking autism studies. Guided by servant-leadership principles, he remains committed to protecting children’s health and amplifying the voices of those who depend on thoughtful, data-driven stewardship of behavioral health resources.
Previous Fellow
Mazen Oneissi, MD, MPH

Mazen Oneissi is the first fellow and alumnus of our administrative fellowship program. He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins University, where he specialized in healthcare management and finance, as well as risk sciences and public policy. Before transitioning to healthcare management, Mazen worked as a physician and genetics researcher across several esteemed institutions.
During his fellowship, Mazen focused on bridging the gap between clinical and financial operations in healthcare, striving to enhance the patient experience while safeguarding the financial integrity of healthcare providers and institutions. He played a pivotal role in launching and developing the Clinical Engagement Strategy within the revenue cycle department, a project that has now become the cornerstone of his current position at CHOP.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mazen enjoys perfecting the art of baking, creating intricate French pastries and sourdough breads in his spare time.
