Very Early Onset IBD: Jacob's Story

Jacob's family took him to different doctors, looking for help for their very sick baby. They finally found answers, and life-changing treatment, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Jacob was diagnosed with very early onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD). After treatment and surgery, he is now a happy 4-year-old.

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHOP sees thousands of patients each year, with diagnoses including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, motility disorders, biliary atresia, short-bowel disease, and others. In addition, the team is a research leader, with investigations in inflammatory bowel disease, the genetics of very early onset inflammatory bowel disease, the microbiome, biliary atresia, integrative therapies and more.
