Head and Hair Desensitization for Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome

For head desensitization, there are a number of activities that you can do throughout your day to help with that sensitivity. Brushing your hair is one way to provide desensitization for head pain.

Start at the scalp and brush all the way to the ends. This is the correct way. This is incorrect technique. Other types of head desensitization may include: chewing gum or taffy, wearing a tight headband or giving yourself a scalp massage while you shower.

It is also important to remember to not avoid noisy places or going outside on a bright sunny day.

Braiding the hair in tight braids can also help with desensitization to the head. This is the correct way to wear braids. This would be the incorrect way to wear braids. As you can see, they are loose.

Be mindful. If you have new or worsening head pain or changes in your vision or speech, please seek immediate advice from your medical provider.
