Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew Landstrom, MD, PhD, as the inaugural Director of Translational Research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) and Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was the only pediatric institution in the pivotal clinical trial, and CHOP electrophysiologist is the only pediatric implanter.

The Cardiac Center at CHOP has added Reading, PA to its growing list of satellite locations providing care for pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart diseases.

CHOP researchers reported long-term clinical outcomes for the largest single center cohort of individuals who underwent complex reconstructive surgery for hypoplastic left heart syndrome as newborns. In this cohort, more than 30% survived without a transplant to at least 35 years of age.

Cardiology 2025, the 28th Annual Update on Pediatric and Congenital Cardiovascular Disease, was held this year from February 19 to 23 at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Report in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The ninth annual Philly Spin-In took place on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, where more than 200 teams made up of 2,000 supporters rode for heart warriors raising funds and awareness for critical cardiac care and research for the Cardiac Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP).
