If your child has severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss, a cochlear or other hearing implant may allow them to hear. Our goal at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is to give your child the treatment, tools and support needed to effectively communicate and understand language.

CHOP's Hearing Implant Program has been providing customized evaluation, treatment and follow-up care for children and their families for more than 25 years.

Because a hearing implant requires a child to learn a new way of hearing and to participate in long-term follow-up care, we evaluate each child's situation thoroughly.

Post-implant, we provide the best possible care for each child and family. We also work to educate other adults, like daycare providers, the child interacts with to maximize the child's ability to hear and speak better.

How we serve you

Cochlear implants had been the only option for surgery candidates with permanent hearing loss. Now, there are additional hearing implant options. We will explain the differences and guide your family's decision in which device will bring your child the best outcome.
