Depression Clinical Pathway — Outpatient Behavioral Health and Primary Care

Concerns for Suicidal Ideation or Behavior, Psychosis, or Mania

Concern	Consider The Following
Suicidal Ideation or Behavior	Suicide Risk Assessment and Care Planning Clinical Pathway For children/adolescents not in need of emergency department/crisis center evaluation, Partial Hospitalization, or an Intensive Outpatient Program to address the suicide concern, address the suicide related concerns and then return to Depression Pathway to address the depression concerns. For children/adolescents in need of safety planning, please refer to Example Safety Plan Template
Psychosis	If in a non-behavioral health setting, consider referral to an Emergency Department for further evaluation. If in a behavioral health setting, consider referral to an Emergency Department for further evaluation if there are concerns for safety to self or others. Otherwise evaluate psychotic and manic symptoms and determine next appropriate steps.
