History and Physical

History of Present Illness
  • Potential signs and symptoms:
    • Fever (absence of fever does not rule out UTI in this population)
    • Tachypnea, Tachycardia
    • Apnea/Bradycardia/Desaturation episodes
    • Decreased activity or irritability
    • Emesis or feeding intolerance
    • Abdominal tenderness or distension
    • Hematuria
    • Jaundice
  • Hydration
    • Intake and output
    • Onset and duration
Past Medical History
  • Previous UTI
    • Review sensitivities
    • Assess for resistant organisms
      • History of multidrug-resistant organisms or fungal infection
        • Consider ID consult
  • Review previous
    • imaging (Renal Bladder Ultrasound (RBUS), Voiding Cysto-Urethrogram (VCUG))
    • prophylactic antibiotics
  • Refer to Exclusions
