The Philadelphia Coalition for a Cure (PC4C) study is interested in collecting blood and saliva samples from you, as well as leftover tissue and cerebrospinal fluid from surgeries at CHOP. Our primary research interest is brain tumors, so we aim to collect these tumors, but are also able to collect any tissue deemed to be from an abnormal growth, or other type of cancer. In addition to collecting samples, we also ask patients if we may access their clinical data that is collected and stored at CHOP (ie, notes from provider visits, treatment information, lab results, etc).

We work with other adult hospitals in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University, Cooper Health System, and Crozer Keystone Health System) who contribute samples and data to the bank as well.

The purpose of collecting samples and clinical data is to provide these to researchers (both in and outside of CHOP) interested in studying cancer and developing treatments. In these efforts, we hope to accelerate the process of oncology research and discovery by making this a widely available resource.
