In 2017 the United States Health and Human Services Department declared a public health emergency. Increased prescription of opioid medications led to widespread misuse of both prescription and non-prescription opioids before it became clear that these medications could indeed be highly addictive. This is a national crisis that continues to devastate Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. This epidemic affects everyone to some degree. If a friend, a loved one, a patient, a neighbor, or you is suffering please utilize the available resources to seek help. Do everything you can to stay informed and to be prepared to help put an end to this crisis.
