Somers Point Appointment Information

Somers Point Appointment Information

All visits are by appointment only, including both well visits and sick visits. When you make an appointment for your child, please let our staff know about any concerns you have about your child's health so enough time can be scheduled for your child’s office visit.

Choosing your child’s primary care pediatrician

If you are expecting a new baby and would like to arrange a prenatal visit to discuss your child’s care and help you choose a pediatrician, please call the office. Our staff would be happy to answer your questions or arrange a visit to meet our team.

To build personal relationships with our patients, we ask each family to select one primary clinician/provider (PCP) who coordinates their care, performs yearly routine check-ups and physicals, and develops a relationship over time. This relationship will be maintained as your child grows unless you request a change.

MyCHOP

MyCHOP is a free service that offers patients/parents secure online access to portions of their or their child’s medical record using a web browser or mobile app. With a MyCHOP account you can:

  • Make appointments
  • Request medication renewals/refills
  • Send non-urgent medical questions
  • View test results
  • View/print immunizations

Please speak to our Patient Service Representatives to sign up for an account.

Video visits

CHOP Primary Care, Somers Point offers video visits as an alternative to some in-person visits when it is clinically safe and appropriate to do so. Telehealth video visits can be a good option for many medical appointments, including consultations for certain acute issues and symptoms, follow-up visits to see how a treatment or medication is working, urgent care visits, and more. Your child’s provider will work with you to determine what visits can safely and effectively be done by video.

Well visits

Routine well-child visits/physicals are important because they allow your pediatrician to examine your child holistically, assess their physical and emotional needs, support their growth and development, and intervene quickly if any issues arise.

Well visits can be scheduled for new and established patients. Please call six months in advance to book a well visit.

When your child is sick

To accommodate unexpected illness, sick appointments are available.

  • Unless it is a true emergency, before going to an Emergency Department, please call our office to speak with a nurse to determine if a visit is needed or if your child’s care can be safely managed at home.
  • To speak with a nurse, call 609-927-4235 and follow prompts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • We see patients by scheduled appointments only. Please do not walk into the office without an appointment.
  • We will do everything we can so your child can be seen by their PCP, but if your PCP is unavailable, your child’s appointment will be scheduled with another provider. A pediatrician is on-call 24/7 for emergencies.

Parking

We offer free parking at our office.

Coming to an appointment

  • Please plan to check in with your child 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  • All patients should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Insurance cards and copays are required for check-in at each visit.

Running late for an appointment

If you arrive late for your scheduled appointment, we may not be able to see your child, and your appointment will be rescheduled.

Cancelling appointments

Please call 609-927-4235 at least 24 hours in advance to cancel an appointment. Failure to cancel an appointment in advance will be considered a no show. Well visits and appointments for physical exams are scheduled up to three months in advance.

Insurance and payments

Please call our office with questions about insurance or payments. Some common questions include when and why your appointment might be billed as both a well visit and a sick visit.

Review this list of participating insurance plans, or find more resources to be financially prepared for your visit to a CHOP location.
