Today, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) announced their “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). The designation was awarded in the 16th iteration of HRC’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), released today. A record 1,065 healthcare facilities actively participated in the HEI 2024 survey and scoring process. “I’m extremely proud of this accomplishment and want to recognize that it takes each and every one of us to contribute to the positive and supportive culture of care for our LGBTQ+ community members,” said Joe St. Geme, Physician-in-Chief, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “Support for our LGBTQ+ patients, families and staff remains a priority at CHOP. Our team in the Gender and Sexuality Development Program delivers the utmost quality care, and our Pride Employee Resource Group leads efforts to provide CHOP staff and surrounding communities with continuing education regarding LGBTQ+ issues. We also continue to advocate for policies that provide comprehensive healthcare for all.”
