Bigger, Brighter, Better: New Facilities Offer Expanded Services

CHOP Patient CHOP’s unending quest to deliver the best care to children manifested itself in striking ways last year. In addition to opening the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care on the Main Campus, the CHOP Care Network also opened three new Specialty Care Centers: Princeton at Plainsboro, King of Prussia and Brandywine Valley. These bright, beautiful buildings are bigger than those they replaced and offer additional services. CHOP also expanded its community hospital partnerships to include St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, and Lancaster (PA) General Health.

Last year at CHOP, there were:

  • 29,062 admissions in the 535-bed Main Hospital
  • 1,240,528 outpatient visits (732,086 of which came through primary care visits)
  • 6,659 inpatient surgeries
  • 11,409 outpatient surgeries
  • 80,949 Emergency Department visits
  • 13,759 Urgent Care visits
  • More than 797,947 square feet of research space, helping to bring bench discoveries to bedside quickly
