Douglass McDaniel, DACM, L.Ac., Wins POPPIES Award The Integrative Health Program is proud to announce that Douglas McDaniel, DACM, L.Ac., acupuncturist with the Integrative Health Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), has received the monthly POPPIES Award. Each month, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia selects a staff member from the submitted nominees who embodies the principles of the award.

The POPPIES Award is designed to recognize staff members who demonstrate support to nurses and the Power of Positive People in Excellent Service (POPPIES). The POPPIES Award was created in conjunction with the established nursing recognition DAISY Award for outstanding nursing care, as nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by other healthcare professionals. Patients, visitors, and all CHOP employees may nominate a deserving staff member who they believe has provided excellent service.

Douglas McDaniel received his nomination from one of his first acupuncture patients, who described his caring nature and lasting commitment to his patients. “After meeting me in July 2020, he continues to check on me every time I get admitted. He is very kind and caring, and goes over and beyond to help them.” The Integrative Health Program is proud and grateful to have staff members like Doug whose exceptional service and hard work supports patients and the success of the entire program team.
