The Philadelphia Daily News features Story of CHOP Stroke Patient, Avery Marz

Avery Marz, a basketball player and incoming freshman at Saint Joseph's University, was putting the finishing touches on her new dorm room when she suffered a stroke. She was immediately taken to a local hospital and then transferred to CHOP, where a team of doctors and therapists including Dr. Rebecca Ichord, director of CHOP’s Pediatric Stroke Program, figured out the best treatment plan.

Avery has been undergoing physical and occupational therapy at CHOP’s King of Prussia Specialty Care Center for a few months, and is making great progress as she strives to get back on the basketball court with her teammates!
