Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship Program
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) aims to train excellent educators and clinicians to treat children with acute and chronic functional deficits in order to maximize their potential in society. Graduates will understand the systemic complexities of healthcare and know how to improve the quality of care delivered in a meaningful way. Fellows are exposed to the breadth of pediatric rehabilitation medicine, benefitting from the diverse knowledge in our faculty and the superb clinicians throughout our institution. Our graduates are prepared to serve in future inpatient, outpatient, and leadership roles in our field.
We are excited to offer this unique opportunity to implement a new training program in a top rated institution. The ideal fellow will be invested in program development and enjoy the prospect of shaping a new training program.

Overview and mission
The Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia offers a fellowship training program for two ACGME accredited positions per year in a two-year fellowship. The fellowship at CHOP will provide an education from a diverse faculty and include access to state-of-the-art facilities.
The program in pediatric rehabilitation medicine is one of the nation’s premiere pediatric institutions. Our pediatric rehabilitation medicine fellowship includes opportunities to manage patients in an onsite inpatient rehabilitation unit, to provide consultation in an acute carefree standing children's hospital. Trainees are able to follow patients in Fellows Clinic along with other outpatient clinics and interdisciplinary programs. Fellows will participate in research, teaching opportunities, quality improvement work and much more. Our goal is to train the future leaders in pediatric rehabilitation medicine using all of the resources CHOP and the Philadelphia region have to offer.
Curriculum
The curriculum of the pediatric rehabilitation medicine fellowship has been developed to provide fellows and residents with opportunity to learn direct patient care in a variety of clinical settings, as well as opportunities to develop indirect clinical skills in research, quality improvement, and academic teaching.
Rotations may be reallocated as appropriate to provide the optimal learning experience for our fellows and residents. Since its inception, the program has achieved a 100% board certification pass rate. We also offer opportunities to work with other collaborative subspecialists on site such as:

Teaching Opportunities for Fellows
Fellows have numerous opportunities to develop their teaching skills and contribute meaningfully to medical education at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). These include:
Peer Education: Fellows regularly engage in teaching other CHOP fellows, both informally through clinical collaboration and formally through dedicated interdisciplinary case conferences, journal clubs, and didactic sessions.
Residency Didactics: Fellows participate in the education of general pediatric residents through scheduled lectures, bedside teaching, and simulation-based instruction. They may lead sessions on topics within their subspecialty and contribute to core pediatric educational curricula.
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Resident Teaching: Fellows also contribute to the training of PM&R residents by participating in interdisciplinary rounds, co-leading didactic sessions, and serving as clinical instructors in shared patient care environments.
These teaching experiences not only enrich the broader educational environment but also help fellows build essential academic and leadership skills, preparing them for future roles in academic medicine.
