Primary Immunodeficiency

At the end of the session the learner will be able to:

  • Identify key historical or physical exam features associated with primary immunodeficiency syndromes
  • Identify key features of immunodeficiencies associated with dysfunction of phagocytes, T cells, B cells, or proteins of the complement pathway
  • Define key defects in some of the more common immunodeficiencies such as chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), hyper IgE syndrome (HIES), leukocyte adhesion deficiency (LAD), severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), DiGeorge syndrome, and common variable immunodeficiency (CVID)
  • Identify the initial laboratory evaluations that may be useful in the diagnosis of primary immunodeficiencies
