Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease

More than 80,000 children in the United States live with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and IBD unclassified (IBD-U). IBD causes chronic inflammation and damage in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, leading to abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other GI symptoms. For some patients, symptoms extend outside the GI tract and may include joint inflammation and/or rashes. While there is no cure for IBD, it can be successfully treated.
The Center for Pediatric IBD is one of the largest Centers of its kind in the U.S., providing care for more than 2,000 children each year from around the world. Children and adolescents come to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to receive individualized care, the latest treatments and to participate in clinical research studies. Our goal is to help your child achieve their optimal health.
