Complex Care Conference

This two-and-a-half-day conference is intended for providers who currently care for children with medical complexity (CMC) or who are interested in learning to care for this population. This one-of-a-kind program offers an array of didactic and interactive sessions that will cover key complex care content areas, including review of current diagnostic and management strategies, care of children with medical technology use, and innovations in research, medical education, patient advocacy and models of care. Through learning, sharing, and networking, the goals of this educational conference are to give our collaborative community the tools necessary to best care for CMC and support their families.
Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia Simulation Sessions

This course is designed to recreate realistic and challenging cases, such as insufficient oxygen levels in the blood, difficult airway management, emergency blood pressure issues or cardiac events. To improve clinical practice and patient outcomes, the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia follows the guidelines from the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and other related associations on patient safety. This live, instructor-led, advanced simulation course will provide a safe environment to learn about new techniques or drugs and offer participants experience in crisis management, patient safety and professional teamwork that can be difficult to teach in the active operating room arena.
Imaging Congenital Heart Disease Across the Lifespan with Echocardiography: A Neonatal to Adult Approach

This first-annual, one-day symposium for echo sonographers will provide a unique learning experience. Join us for lectures by top pediatric cardiologists and experienced sonographers, “bedside” breakout sessions with an emphasis on talking through the thought process and techniques while scanning congenital heart disease, a glimpse into high-level 3-D imaging and its use in surgical planning, a hands-on session involving pediatric heart specimens, and a fun and interactive quiz game.

ELNEC: End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium – Pediatric Curriculum

The curriculum consists of nine modules specific to care of children facing life-threatening illness and their families. The principal goal of the training program is to provide pediatric healthcare providers with information on pediatric palliative and hospice care and resources to integrate this content into their clinical education. Master Course in Pediatric Thyroid Ultrasound

Participants will experience a comprehensive series of lectures from CHOP’s expert multi-disciplinary team designed to further demonstrate and highlight important factors to consider in pediatric thyroid US as compared with adults. Topics discussion will range from workflow operations for point-of-care US at the bedside, examining both the thyroid and neck region for lymph nodes in a variety of disorders/conditions, review and utility of the TIRADS scoring system, and Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB). On day two, participants will have an immersive, hands-on experience with CHOP’s expert team to obtain hand-over-hand training in ultrasound technique.
Neuroendocrine Symposium IV

This one-day program is targeted to endocrinologists, neuro-oncologists, radiologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-ophthalmologists, fellows, residents and nurse practitioners who evaluate or treat children with hypothalamic/pituitary disorders. This program will highlight practical approaches to evaluating a child with a prolactinoma, hypothalamic obesity and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. We will have an open table discussion of some of the learner’s cases.
