Children with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), a rare genetic disease, will find comprehensive treatment and follow-up care at the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

Because symptoms of PCD can mimic many other lung problems, accurate diagnosis is key so your child will receive the care they need. Our team of PDC experts is setting standards for testing, diagnosis and treatment, all of which improve outcomes for children with PCD.

The PCD Center is one of several specialized centers within CHOP's Division of Pulmonary Medicine, which is consistently ranked among the top pulmonary programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

We are part of the PCD Foundation's Clinical and Research Centers Network (CRCN), a national collaborative network of centers committed to advancing knowledge of this disease through clinical research.

How we serve you

Our approach starts with confirming an accurate diagnosis using state-of-the-art testing and technologies. Since there are currently no standardized treatments for primary ciliary dyskinesia, we focus on creating a tailored care plan that meets the individual needs of each patient and family while using available research to guide your child's care.

Conditions we treat

Primary ciliary dyskinesia damages the tiny hair-like structures (cilia) in the lungs needed to clear the airways. Ongoing care strives to slow disease progression and minimize the number of pulmonary infections.
