Background

Under the mentorship of Barbara K. Schmidt, MD, MSc, Dr. DeMauro performs clinical research focused on the management of very preterm infants. This research includes studies evaluating the role of serial echocardiography in the diagnosis and management of patent ductus arteriosus, delivery room management of the very preterm infant, and the differences between various tests used to evaluate neurodevelopment in former preterm infants.

She has recently also published work on the quality of reporting in neonatal and infant clinical trials published in high-impact journals.
