On Nov. 7, 2015, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia celebrated the grand opening of the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care with hundreds of donors, staff, elected officials and community partners attending the celebration.
The new facility was made possible by charitable donations including a landmark $50 million gift from the Buerger family including Constance and Alan Buerger, Krista and Reid Buerger, and Grant Buerger. The Center includes a 700,000-square-foot building for outpatient care and rehabilitation, along with a rooftop garden and landscaped plaza and five stories of parking below, with the ability to add an additional 175,000 square feet to the building in the future.
It is located across the street from the Main Hospital on CHOP’s Raymond G. Perelman Campus in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia. The pioneering new outpatient facility brings together dozens of pediatric specialists to one convenient location, making it easier for patients to see multiple doctors during the same visit.
