On Sept. 2, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Healthy Weight Program (HWP) celebrated Healthy Changes Day and Childhood Obesity Awareness Month by hosting a full day of family-based events to promote healthy lifestyles.

The morning started with a special program where participants heard from experts from the Healthy Weight Program, Philadelphia City Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, and from Bettyann Creighton, director of Health, Safety and Physical Education for the School District of Philadelphia, as well as two patient families. They spoke about the incredible benefits of building healthy lifestyles as a family.

Events and information throughout the month highlighted positive ways to support families working together on healthy habits around four focus areas:

  • Healthy eating
  • Physical activity
  • Screen time
  • Sleep
