Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Announces Citadel Credit Union as Returning Presenting Sponsor of Parkway Run & Walk

Citadel renews three-year commitment to support annual fundraising event for CHOP’s Cancer Center

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) today announced that Citadel Credit Union has renewed its partnership for an additional three years as the presenting sponsor of CHOP’s annual Parkway Run & Walk. The event takes place each year during September’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and is the largest annual fundraiser for the Cancer Center at CHOP. Citadel Credit Union will form a team of employees and encourage its members to join the thousands of supporters in the fight against pediatric cancer.

“On behalf of the Cancer Center, I would like to thank Citadel Credit Union for its ongoing partnership and sponsorship of our annual Parkway Run & Walk,” said Stephen Hunger, MD, Chief of the Division of Oncology and Director of the Center for Childhood Cancer Research at CHOP. “Citadel’s community involvement and generosity not only help support breakthrough research and exceptional patient care within our Center, but also get us one step closer to conquering childhood cancer for children all over the world.”

“Citadel’s mission is to build strength in our community, and one of the most important ways we do that is by supporting the CHOP Parkway Run & Walk,” said Jeff March, President and CEO, Citadel, and member of CHOP’s Corporate Council. “We are proud to renew our commitment to this incredibly successful fundraising endeavor that continues to surpass its goals to fight childhood cancer each year. Parkway not only supports families across our local Philadelphia region, but worldwide. No matter what challenges we may face – the inspiring togetherness of community that is woven into the fabric of this event will continue to make it a success.”

The Parkway Run & Walk is a poignant finale to the Cancer Center’s efforts to raise critical funds and awareness during September’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This year, participants will converge outdoors at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on September 26, many with signs and t-shirts dedicated to children in the community with cancer. It will be a time of celebration and reflection, and an opportunity to reconnect with doctors, nurses and staff from the Cancer Center. The event will also continue as a monthlong virtual challenge where participants have the option to create a team, set a mileage goal, get active and raise funds for pediatric cancer research and care at CHOP.

The Cancer Center at CHOP is an internationally recognized leader in pediatric cancer treatment and research, and the no.1 ranked oncology program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The Center is one of the largest pediatric cancer programs in the nation, staffed by some of the world’s top clinicians and teams with expertise in every type of pediatric cancer, from the most common to the most rare.
