September is Childhood Obesity Prevention Month and CHOP’s Healthy Weight Program (HWP) honored it in a number of ways, including by celebrating “Healthy Changes Day." The special day, created in collaboration with Philadelphia City Councilman Bobby Henon, Philly Play and Playworks Philadelphia, highlighted the importance of encouraging children to be more physically active and make healthful changes in their lives.

Participants at CHOP’s Main Hospital and our Cobbs Creek Care Network site — including Patricia DeRusso, MD, MS, FAAP, director of the Healthy Weight Program; Saba Kahn, MD, medical director for the program;Jennifer Fassbender, MS, program director; and Peter Grollman, vice president of Government Affairs, Community Relations & Advocacy — learned and performed a multi-site simultaneous dance sequence.
