Academy for Resuscitation of Children

The Academy for Resuscitation of Children (ARC) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is a pioneering cardiac arrest and resuscitation science training and implementation center dedicated exclusively to children. The mission of the center is to assess, discover, establish, implement, disseminate, and sustain evidence-based resuscitation guidelines and pioneer new interventions that improve survival and quality of life for infants, children and their families.

VISION:To continuously advance and support discovery, contextualization, and implementation of best pediatric cardiac arrest prevention, preparation, recognition, and resuscitation practices through pioneering research, innovative training, relentless commitment to extraordinary care, and genuine global collaboration.

The Academy for Resuscitation of Children is composed of an interdisciplinary team of experts in resuscitation and implementation science who collaborate to care for children at high risk for cardiac arrest and resuscitation. Based on broad experience at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and in collaboration with the leading institutions and experts around the world, we have developed next generation interventions, training materials and programs, which we disseminate through workshops, presentations, co-laboratories, external site visits, and scholarly exchange programs to develop high-reliability healthcare center around the globe.

The Academy will test and train to best practices that have been developed in our translational lab, put into guidelines by our clinical research, and then subsequently disseminated through the training provided by ARC. The ARC serves as an “incubator/innovation accelerator” for CHOP’s next generation pediatric resuscitation programs, to adapt, contextualize, implement and disseminate an evidence-based 10-Step Global Resuscitation Alliance and Resuscitation Academy approach to high performance pediatric resuscitation.

We are pioneering the implementation of translational research, exceptional training and extraordinary care to achieve our overall mission: Save children’s lives through discovery, dissemination, implementation and support of optimal resuscitation practices delivered in every hospital and community.

We have four primary goals:

Education
