Acupuncture Program

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Needles that are as thin as a cat’s whisker are put into specific points on the body. These points are called acupoints. Putting needles in these points is believed to help stimulate the body’s healing ability, decrease pain and support physical and emotional well-being.
Research shows that acupuncture can help with pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, digestive problems, anxiety, numbness and tingling of the hands and feet, and other conditions.
How we serve you
The Acupuncture Program at CHOP is used to complement the treatment plans of children and young adults with different symptoms and medical conditions. We treat children who are seen by many different teams including Oncology, Hematology, Adolescent Medicine, Gastroenterology, Rehabilitation and Neurology.

Meet your team
The American Academy of Pediatrics published a review that found acupuncture to be safe for children when performed by well-trained providers. At CHOP, acupuncture is provided by clinicians who have training in acupuncture and experience treating both children and young adults.

Locations
Our acupuncturists treat children at the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care, Main Hospital and King of Prussia Hospital, as well as specialty care locations in King of Prussia and Voorhees.
