Yoga is an integrative health practice offered to patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The word “yoga” means, “union” or “to unite.” Yoga brings focus to your breath and your body at the same time. Yoga can improve overall health and well-being and help alleviate symptoms and many treatment-related side effects that children may experience during care.

Yoga therapy applies yoga-based practices, including physical postures, therapeutic breathwork, meditation, and more to address an individual’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Our team uses a whole-person, therapeutic approach that tailors each session to a child's individual needs and goals.

Our team of experienced yoga therapists and instructors can support patients receiving care as hospital inpatients, in our outpatient clinics and via telehealth when appropriate.

How we serve you

CHOP’s Yoga Therapy Program is delivered by Certified Yoga Therapists and Yoga Instructors with years of experience working with children and adolescents with different health conditions.

Yoga therapy is offered as a complementary modality to support your child’s traditional medical treatment. Our yoga therapists collaborate closely with the healthcare team to ensure the programming is safe, effective and seamlessly integrated into your child’s personalized care plan.
