In April, the Office of Community Impact officially welcomed John William Chin as the new CHOP Cares Community Advisory Board Chair. He has served on CHOP Cares Community Advisory Board for the past three years. 

CHOP partnered with the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council to host its first matchmaker event targeted towards construction, facilities and building trades. The virtual event offered attendees the opportunity to learn more about CHOP, our supplier diversity program, future bid opportunities, and to meet with CHOP’s senior leaders, facilities and construction teams.

Each year, sudden cardiac arrest occurs in 23,000 children and youth across the US. With the help of Youth Heart Watch and a partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, children and others who suffer sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in a Philadelphia recreation center have a much better chance of survival.

In 2021, CHOP’s pediatric residency program received CHOP Cares Community Grant funding through the Office of Community Impact to support their project, FosteRx: Empowering Foster Families with Comprehensive Health Information.

Dianne Motil started her CHOP career four years ago as a registered nurse in Primary Care, and throughout the years has transferred and now works in the PICU/Onco Unit at Middleman Family Pavilion in King of Prussia.

The new center, funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, aims to identify and protect children in vulnerable communities from environmental exposures.

The Homeless Health Initiative (HHI) participated in the fall Creekside Family Fun, Health and Safety Day event in Bensalem, Bucks County, on Sept. 18, 2021. The event aimed to provide resources to residents of the Creekside Apartments and the surrounding community.

CHOP is proud to announce Marcia Wallace as its first Supplier Diversity Program Manager. In this role, which she assumed in fall 2021, she leads CHOP’s Supply Chain team and works closely with CHOP’s Healthier Together Initiative.
