About the Injury Prevention Program

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to children in the United States. The Injury Prevention Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is dedicated to preventing injuries in children. Our multi-faceted program educates families about safety and offers safety devices to increase safety practices in the community.

Dedicated to keeping kids safe

We also have a Safety Center store and mobile safety van, both of which are staffed by health educators who provide free injury prevention information while selling child safety products such as car seats, bike helmets and home safety products at discounted prices.

We also work closely with many other areas of the Hospital, including the Trauma Center, in our commitment to keep kids safe. Watch this video to learn more about how the Injury Prevention Program works with the Trauma Center to make safety and injury prevention a priority.

Car seat safety

Our Car Seat Safety for Kids program can help you choose the proper child safety seat for your infant or toddler and ensure it's installed correctly. We offer car seat safety information, including seat installation tips and videos, and a list of car seat inspection stations in the greater Philadelphia area.
