Overview

This course provides an overview of point of care ultrasound, with a focus on pediatric anesthesia indications for use in the perioperative period. It is designed for providers with limited or basic knowledge of point of care ultrasound. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on practical sessions using live pediatric models and simulation equipment, course attendees will learn ultrasound fundamentals (physics and principles of scanning) and ultrasound scanning techniques pertinent to pediatric anesthesia practice, including: basic cardiac, fluid and function, lung, airway, and gastric evaluation, as well as procedural guidance (peripheral and central line placement, neuraxial block). The course is being taught by anesthesia, critical care, cardiology, and emergency medicine ultrasound experts, and will have a low student-to-teacher ratio of 4/5 to 1
