Family Fun and Fitness Day HHI’s annual Family Fun & Fitness Day, held at Drexel University’s Vidas Field, grew tremendously last year. Thirty mothers and children from three shelters and 16 volunteers participated in 2013. In spring 2014, 117 moms and kids from five shelters participated and enjoyed this day of games and activities. More than 40 HHI volunteers from the CHOP community and beyond led games, including soccer, obstacle courses, relay races and hula-hoops, and a friends and family CPR course.

Through the generous donations from various departments and community businesses, the children were also able to bring home custom T-shirts, Frisbees, cookbooks, jump ropes and water bottles.

This day has been a truly special event, giving the families opportunities to play outside and enjoy each other’s company. Special thanks to Drexel University for allowing HHI to host Family Fun & Fitness Day at Vidas Field each year and to CHOP programs for their support: Healthy Weight Program, Office of Government Affairs, Community Relations & Advocacy, Aramark, Nursing Department, and Early Head Start. Big thanks to Dominic McFadden, CHOP ED tech, for capturing the fun in photos!
