Our comprehensive center — commonly called the endoscopy suite — offers state-of-the-art endoscopic and nutrition services to children with gastrointestinal (GI), liver, pancreatic and nutritional concerns. We perform thousands of diagnostic procedures annually, including endoscopy, colonoscopy, enteroscopy, ERCP, motility studies, impedance/pH probes, liver biopsies and others. Our endoscopic technology — including advanced high-definition optics and visualization systems — allows us to examine your child’s entire digestive tract and determine potential treatments. Patients who require medication infusions will get to know our amazing team of care providers.

Led by Petar Mamula, MD, an expert in advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures for children, the center is staffed by physicians, nurses and GI technicians. We encourage you to ask questions. We’re here to support your family throughout this process.

Our tests and treatments

We offer a full range of endoscopic procedures to help diagnose, treat and monitor your child’s condition, including those listed below.

Tips for scheduling a procedure

When scheduling a procedure in the GI endoscopy suite, please note the following:

  • It will take about a week for the anesthesiologist to determine if the procedure can be done in the endoscopy suite or if it needs to be done in an operating room.
  • The scheduler in the endoscopy suite will call you in approximately a week to schedule your child’s appointment. If you have not heard from a scheduler in a week, please call 215-590-3326 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and we will help you.
  • We usually have appointments available within two to three weeks (and sooner if necessary).

The endoscopy suite scheduler will assist you with any insurance or billing questions. Visit the CHOP billing and insurance website for more information.
