For children with gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorders, the bowel cannot move waste through the intestines in a functional way. Because of this, children often experience debilitating pain, embarrassing stool leakage and psychological stress. To improve these children's health and long-term outcomes, care must be provided by an expert multidisciplinary clinical and research team.

The Program for Precision Diagnosis and Therapy for Pediatric Motility Disorders at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is one of the few programs worldwide that addresses the complex needs of youth with severe motility disorders. We offer:

  • A full spectrum of cutting-edge diagnostic tests
  • A coordinated approach to diagnosis and treatment
  • Proven and novel treatments, including stem cell therapy

Motility conditions are challenging. We're committed to supporting your child and your family.

How we serve you

At CHOP, we offer a variety of specialized programs and health services – including psychology, mindfulness and yoga – to better support children with GI motility conditions and their families.
