Around the World: Heroes and Germs Know No Borders

Parents PACK

The Vax Pack Hero project includes Vaccine Heroes from five continents and more than 12 countries around the world. Some of those scientists worked their entire lives in their native countries, while others began promising work in one country before immigrating to another. Visit the Vaccine Heroes page to learn more about where the vaccine heroes lived and worked.

In addition to teaming up with a globally diverse group of Vaccine Heroes during game play, players also battle germs endemic to different geographic areas. For example, players may encounter tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease common in Latin America, Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Russia. Players may also battle mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, which regularly infects people in more than 100 countries, and yellow fever, which most often occurs in sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America.

Materials in this section are updated as new information and vaccines become available. The Vaccine Education Center staff regularly reviews materials for accuracy.
