MRI of ARPKD liver disease

The primary goal of this research study is to see if new types of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to measure liver health in children with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD) compared to healthy controls. Both children with ARPKD and healthy children, aged 6 years and above can participate.

Novel Imaging in Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease

In this study, we are developing new ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods to measure kidney and liver disease severity in autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD). Participants in this study will include individuals with ARPKD, and a comparison group of healthy individuals without liver or kidney disease. Individuals of any age may take part in the study.

Parenting Intervention Study

CHOP PriCARE is a FREE, VIRTUAL workshop for caregivers of children 18 months - 6 years of age. Caregivers attend the workshop for 80 minutes once a week for 6 weeks. Workshops are offered mornings and evenings throughout the year. The goal of the workshop is to teach ways to interact with young children that improve their behavior and build a strong bond between caregiver and child. The PriCARE workshop is a research project with two groups of caregivers. One group attends the workshop, and one group does not attend. Caregivers in both groups are very important for this project. HEALTHY BITES

Teens ages 14-17 with BMI in the 85th percentile or above and without diabetes are invited to participate in the HEALTHY BITES Research Study. The purpose of this research study is to find out if we can develop a mobile health approach that can improve diet quality in teens.

Telemedicine in Early Childhood Constraint Therapy in Cerebral Palsy

Children ata higher risk for Cerebral Palsy or children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy within the age range of 4-13 months (corrected age) are being recruited for an Early Detection study.

For 3-months, two programswill beoffered that may help babies with cerebral palsy move and use their arms more like other children at an early age. If you decide to participate, your participation may mean:

  • 6-week telehealth therapy program (with one in-person visit) with our occupational/physical therapist to learn simple exercises to help your baby use their weaker arm. Your baby would also wear a soft mitt on their stronger arm to help them use their weaker arm.
  • 6-week telehealth parent support program, (with one in-person visit) with our counselor to learn more about movement, how babies learn, and parenting tips specifically designed for your family.

  • Two to three total in-person visits to our lab space to complete assessments and answer questions about how your baby is growing

Physical Activity in Chronic Kidney Disease

The purpose of this study is to identify components of a physical activity intervention that are effective and meaningful to teenagers with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Participants will be assigned to 1 of the 16 study groups and will be asked to wear a Fitbit. Participants will also be given a step count goal, answer questionnaires, and complete hand grip strength assessments.

Participants may also be asked to have one-on-one meetings with an exercise coach.

All visits may be completed remotely.
