What to Do If You Suspect the Flu

Your child is complaining of a sore throat and body aches. They have a fever. It seems like they might be coming down with the flu. What should you do?
The CHOP Specialty Care Center in Abington, PA, provides pediatric outpatient specialty medical services and ancillary testing to children and families in Montgomery County. All care is provided by physicians and support staff who are members of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
This spring, CHOP Specialty Care, Abington, will be relocating to an expanded location to meet the growing needs of our community.
Opening Monday, April 12, our state-of-the-art, two-story, 37,000-square-foot facility will offer 26 exam rooms, new pediatric specialties, ample free parking, and additional onsite services such as audiology, speech therapy, radiology (including diagnostic X-ray), electroencephalogram (EEG), echocardiogram, spirometry and pulmonary function testing.
This new center — located at 1840 Susquehanna Road, Abington, PA, which is the intersection of Old York Road (Route 611) and Susquehanna Road — is only a half mile from its current location.
Built from the ground up, the new facility was designed with families in mind. It offers the same CHOP-quality care families have come to know and value, with more pediatric services and specialists than ever before (scroll down for a list), giving families more of what they need, conveniently right in their community.
Our Diagnostic Center — which serves the most difficult-to-diagnose children and those with complex care needs — will also have appointments in Abington.
Pediatric after-hours Urgent Care will be added for children with urgent medical needs on evenings and weekends when their doctor’s office isn’t available.
