Why Choose CHOP For Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis Treatment

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a national leader in the clinical care of children with slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). CHOP is one of the few centers in the country with significant experience in head realignment surgery for certain types of SCFEs, a procedure that can restore the normal shape of the hip in certain patients.

Although standard treatments (such as surgical pinning) are usually effective for stopping a slip, some patients still have pain and stiffness from the abnormal shape of their hip. These patients will benefit from the reconstructive options offered through CHOP’s Young Adult Hip Preservation Program, which provides care for teenagers and young adults who may have lingering effects of their SCFE.
