Antibiotic Strategy
- Broad-spectrum antibiotics until culture sensitivities available
- Recommended 10-day total course
Diagnostic Imaging and Prophylactic Antibiotics
- Renal Bladder Ultrasound (RBUS)
First UTI with NORMAL RBUS in preterm infants or NICU patients
First UTI with NORMAL RBUS in healthy, full term infants on IP units
First UTI with ABNORMAL RBUS
or ≥ 2nd UTI
or ≥ 2nd UTI
- Urology consult
- Voiding Cysto-Urethrogram (VCUG) as clinically indicated
- Prophylaxis not recommended
- Consider Urology consult
- Voiding Cysto-Urethrogram (VCUG) as clinically indicated
- Prophylaxis not recommended
- Urology consult
- Obtain Voiding Cysto-Urethrogram (VCUG)

Discharge Plan
