Philadelphia Campus Travel Advisories

Please allow for extra travel time to your appointments due to road closures and traffic congestion caused by multiple construction projects around CHOP and Penn, including the full closure of the Wood Center, long-term traffic pattern changes on University Ave., and more. Please check traffic before you go to see if there are any additional closures or impacts in the area, and refer here for the latest updates on parking at CHOP’s Philadelphia Campus.

We understand that "your child needs surgery" can be very frightening words to hear. Here at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, your child will receive coordinated care from expert surgical teams who are experienced caring for children with a variety of conditions requiring surgery.

Our pediatric surgeons perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, from the routine to the rare. From tube placement (gastrostomy tubes and jejunostomy tubes), appendectomies, hernia repair and other abdominal and thoracic surgery, to the latest minimally invasive surgery techniques and specialized oncologic surgery, trauma surgery and fetal surgery, we are equipped to provide individualized care both before and after surgery.

Depending on the type of surgery your child needs, they may be able to have the procedure done at one of our Specialty Care and Ambulatory Surgery Centers, where outpatient surgical procedures are attended by full surgical teams, including advanced practice nurses and pediatric anesthesiologists.
